so i've decided beauty / fashion blogging just isn't my thing... so i'm converting this to an ~art bl0g~. i'm not gonna delete anything because i think it's kinda cool to look back at old things and being embarrassed about them. but yeah. i'll still post pictures of outfits and stuff i buy, but i just won't be so... fake-sounding when i try to review (which i notice very much)... um yeah. here's some old drawings that i found on my computer.

first impressions: sugar lip treatment

the little gift box it came in

as my birthday is coming up, sephora gifted me with a mini lip duo from sugar. in this tiny box contained a regular but cult-favorite sugar lip treatment spf 15 and a tinted version of it. they both are 2.2g / 0.08oz, which is not that bad for minis. i think the average chapstick is about 3 - 4g of product anyways.

very very very nice packaging!

the packaging is definitely the nicest lip balm packaging i've ever had... or felt. i'm not really sure what it's made of, but it's very sturdy and isn't a pull-off cap! i found that to feel really... luxurious? not sure what word would describe it, but it just feels really nice quality. what i really like is that the top half doesn't end close to where the balm actually is. i find that most lip balms that do that tend to get hairs, dust, and lint stuck in them, which really makes it gross to use. i usually have to dig it out with my nails which is even more gross!

truth be told, the scent of the balm reminds me of nestle instant sweet tea. but just watered down. it's not a bad scent, and i actually enjoy it a lot. it doesn't last very long, though. they don't list the ingredients on the box i have, but i'm sure you can see what they are if you check the sugar website or sephora.

the actual product!

the balm itself is really moisturizing when you apply it. it doesn't feel like you're packing on a lot of balm as i find with the eos lip balms. it feels really smooth, like a balm really should, or at least how i prefer mine! it's not exactly slippery, but it's not heavy and tacky either. it's actually how i prefer my balms to be, so this pleases me very much! there isn't a gloss or shine when they're applied, but it does give your lips a small shine / glow. i'm really happy with that! the moisture has lasted me for a couple hours, or at least the product has sat on my lips for that long. i actually just wiped off the product that was sitting on my lips to see how much my lips absorbed... and i can say they feel nicely moisturized. they don't feel super soft or anything, but they definitely feel as though they're hydrated (which they're not... heh).

so above are some swatches (duh! haha) of the balms. they appear to have a shimmery cast in my photos, but that's just the balm reflecting off the wrinkles in my hand (what can i say, my hands are active creatures..). as you can see, the tinted lip balm isn't pigmented whatsoever. it has the slightest hair of a tint of rose. it doesn't provide any coverage of your natural lip color, but rather adds a rosey hint to your own lips, which i like. it makes them look a little more perked and, well, glowy.

can you believe the first month of january is already over? days and weeks fly by way too quickly... soon enough i'm going to be seventeen. it's really strange how quickly high school flies by. elementary school and middle school seemed to have taken forever to get over with... and now it just feels like my youth is escaping away for me. everyone is always telling me to enjoy my high school career, but how can i when it's slipping out of my fingers? oh man.

anyways, here are my favorite make-up products of january! i would have included skin care, clothes, and misc but i was kinda lazy. and it just feels like i have to gradually get myself back into blogging again... so yeah. i don't really know my own style for this blog yet, and i just wanna... do whatever. ha. i don't even know where i'm going with this. anyways, my favorites are a mix of old favorites and new loves. i think most of these fave made it into my personal favorites nonetheless.

laura mercier loose setting powder - sephora

pond's wet cleansing towelettes - this is my second time purchasing a bulk pack of three of these! i got it for around $9, and these so far have been my choice cleansing towelettes. i use to them take of any make-up at night, and then i proceed to clean my face. these aren't amazing holy grail wipes, but they've been my favorite out of the few i've tried (baby wipes don't take off everything and the neutrogena ones leave my skin feeling strange). i tend to like pond's products because they're a-ok for sensitive skin.

revlon color stay foundation - oh gosh. the color selection in this range really is nuts. there are over twenty colors to choose from, and some of them are just so close to one another. i actually purchased one that's just slightly darker than me, but it was so hard to tell in stores! anyways, i purchased the one for oily/combination skin even though i have more normal/dry skin because i wanted a matte foundation, and i was afraid of shimmers in the other formulation. this stuff really does live up to its name! it's the longest wearing foundation i've ever purchased.

maybelline stylish smokes in "natrual smokes" - this is actually a re-purchase. i purchased it back in fall, but my sister wanted it and i gave it to her. the pigmentation in this quad is really average. it's not bad, but it's definitely not the most pigmented palette i've owned. it really isn't bad at all! however, i love it for the colors and the price. i'm happy to have re-purchased this.

MAC fluidline in "blacktrack" - MAC stores and counters

laura mercier loose setting powder - after hearing just about every beauty blogger rave about this stuff and using my sister's, i decided to get my own. the price tag didn't bother me at all because it's actually cheaper than sonia kashuk! you pay less per ounce. can you believe that!? laura mercier is actually cheaper than a drugstore brand? and the sonia kashuk one isn't even that great... anyways, this powder is the finest powder i've ever touched. my boyfriend was amazed at how fine it was too! it definitely prolongs the wear of my foundation and it just somehow makes your face a little more flawless (even though it's colorless).

MAC fluidline in "blacktrack" - i actually purchased this over a year ago and it hasn't dried up at all! and i've still got a ton of product left. this truly is the best eyeliner i've ever used, and it's still going strong as my favorite.

hello there! it's definitely been quite some time since i've posted on this blog. hopefully i'll be posting more. hopefully. no promises. i've been meaning to update this blog actually. for the future, i plan on posting OOTDs, cosmetic reviews, beauty tips, DIYs, and other fun but lame (from me) things. anyways, today i went on a mini shopping spree with my ever so lovely boyfriend. guess how much my haul total was? $1.50! my boyfriend purchased the powder puff for me, as well as an unpictured wet n' wild liner that i wanted to try... the cream blusher was the only thing i paid for, and it's actually a gift for my sister. the deluxe hope in a jar is my 100 point perk gift from sephora, and the sugar lip duo is sephora's birtday gift to me. isn't getting free stuff the best?

pictured above is a sweater that i bought on sale for $25 at aritzia. the color immediately drew me in, of course. right here, y'all, is a sucker for lilac. anyways, at first i was a smidgen bit hesitant to purchase these, but i went for it anyways. i'm happy with it.

I remember wanting to buy both (there might have been more since then) FRUiTS books in 3rd grade. I used to love Japanese culture so much in elementary school and 6th grade. As you guys may or may not know, I am a huge sucker for home decor, interior design, whatever you want to call it! I am really obsessed with Sherry and John's Young House Love, and since I was a kid my favorite part about The Sims games series (I know, kids shouldn't play The Sims, but hey, I'm older now) was building and designing the house! I got so into it once, I spent hours searching up on ways to have a split-level house, blueprints, and other things... But anyways, I saw Target's latest collaboration with John Derian and AH! I was floored.

The collection itself is really nice, but I don't feel a need to buy ALL of the pieces. Just these that I've posted up here! I love the prints that look like they come from an outdated 1970s science textbook. There's something I feel that is so... golden about them? I don't know the word I'm looking for!

Ooh! I am so glad fall is coming along nicely. The weather becomes increasingly colder each day (not that we had a hot summer this year anyways...), which allows for thicker clothes, layering, and other cold weather styles! I love cold weather clothes. Especially tights! And this time around, I'm fancying tights more than I ever have. I'm even willing to spend $30 on a pair (not that I have)! Honestly, I've been going through so many stores, online or in person, looking for lots of colors and patterns that interest me. So far, I've purchased none, but I plan on purchasing a haul from ASOS. Good bye, summer money. Sob!

For a while now, my interest in backpacks have been increasing! I do like purses and bags, but sometimes backpacks seems more convenient. For example, when I have to bike miles to my friends' houses and deliver a few things to them, it's always inconvenient when all I have is a bag! The weight on one shoulder (while on a bike) really bothers me; or if I have a messenger bag, it always gets caught under my seat or beats against my bike.

I like the foldover look, and I like how it's more buckles and buttons.

Can I just say that I really do enjoy the See by Chloe Winter 2010/2011 collection? There's something about it that I really like. I have to say, it makes me think of the new millennium. I don't know exactly what makes me think of the new millennium. Is it the colors that look like it comes out of the "bold" pack of Crayola markers (did anyone else have those aside from me?)? Is it the turtle necks? The chunky socks? I reminds me of old Teen Vogue magazines I used to take from my sister when she was still in college (she went to college the first few years of 2000, I can't remember which. I'm pretty sure it's from 2000-2004).

One of my favorite elements of this collection are the mustardy army green chunky socks. Worn with the heathery grey... I think it looks really nice. I also really like the turtle necks! Generally, I'm not a huge fan of turtle necks, but I really like (wow, I keep saying that) the second photo I posted up there. The pink looks great as well... and I usually think pinks like that are too tacky or scene queen 2005 (a la Audrey Kitching). All the coats in this collection are absolutely fab. Yeah, I said "fab."

[Photos off Here Comes the Sun]

I saw this collection off of Here Comes the Sun and my friend Frances' Hansel&Petal! I can't say that I'm in love with the collection, but I do like it. I particularly like the color scheme. In all honestly, it makes me think of The White Stripes. It also makes me think back to 2006, when I was walking through a mall with my sister and Forever21 had all their mannequins dressed in black, white, and red. Random, but it's true. I think my favorite outfit would have to be the one with the nude satin blouse with the Peter Pan collar and ruffled skirt... Or the patterned dress. I do like the off-white blouse with the large bow, however.

Another thing to note that I do like is the make-up! I really like the natural face and orangey red lipstick! Personally, I would have made the eyebrows darker and thicker, like Ali Michael's. But I guess that's just me. I love the dark and full eyebrow look... just not on myself!

Summer is finally here! To be honest, I haven't really been inspired in the "fashion" category, thus my lack of posts! I haven't been looking at any designers since... Oh gosh, February? I also haven't been shopping much at all. All I do is go onto Forever21's website and look at their new arrivals. No, I'm not lying! It's actually sad how my "fashion depression" is so deep. My school outfits were terrible (while school lasted).

Is it bad that I really want those socks?

I think a huge reason why this blog has been lacking posts is my new interest in beauty.

I've stopped reading a lot of fashion blogs and have been reading a lot more beauty blogs! Also, I think the negligence of this blog is due to my laziness. I've been too lazy to get my camera, take pictures, upload them onto my computer, edit/resize/etc. photos, and then host them on a website! I'm sorry, my few remaining followers, and I'll try to be more active!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately (since December, actually)! I've been a little uninspired to blog... but I'll try to do it more often!

This spring, I find myself liking really boring clothes and colors. I don't wear anything but black, white, gray, and nudes nowadays. It's a little depressing because it's spring. I usually spruce things up a bit with poppy nail polish, which I must say, compliments my golden/bronze skin tone!

Speaking of beauty products, I've been thinking of "expanding" this blog further into beauty products. Lately I've been more interested in beauty versus fashion (terrible, I know!). But, I might just ignore it all in total. But if I do pursue the beauty expansion, I'd do reviews and post hauls and favorites of the month... typical beauty blog stuff. No tutorials, though! I'm terrible at those!

Rodarte x Target

Rodarte for Target! No one at school talks about it, but the fashion blogs online certainly do! Especially Tavi. If you guys haven't, you really should check out the video she did on Rodarte x Target, it's really... I don't know, my head is going blank. But I like it. Some people are saying they think it's okay and are worried about the quality. Some are stoked. As for myself, I'm a mix of both! The dresses would probably look good on some people, and not others. I really, really, want the cardigans though (the mustard one, especially $29.99). And the belts are darling ($12.99)! I want all the cardigans and all the belts and the tights and the bras and a dress or two... which would probably make me broke. It would be nice if the shoes were for sale too. Hee hee.

Harajuku Shibuya Street Style

For some reason, this Youtube channel was 'recommended' for me by Youtube, and I decided to check it out. I'm really pleased that I did! The user films people they see in Harajuku that they find interest in, just as a usual street style blog would, except with a video camera instead of a photographic one. I think Peru needs some more credit when it comes to fashion. I was reading an old Teen Vogue and saw an article of a girl helping kids in Peru get a pair of shoes. The little kid was super cute and so was his poncho and hat.

I never really realized Peru was so cool. Recently, I've been getting more and more into South America because of my Spanish class. My teacher's always telling me stories from when he lived in Peru and all of it just fascinates me! South America is pretty underrated when it comes to fashion (except the Brazilian models, ha. ha.)

I don't want to be the one to claim what Peruvians wear and don't wear, but the things I noticed and liked were the chunkier sweaters, hats (esp. the beanies with tassels), patterns, bright colors, and other knitted fancy duds.

Sorry for not posting for, what?, a month? I haven't really had inspiration, but for some reason - I do now! Haha. But nonetheless, autumn is coming soon and I'm excited and sad. I'm excited because school's starting again and fall fashion is my favorite! Boy oh boy. On the other hand, I'm sad because summer's ending. Although summer isn't my favorite season, this means no more long sunny days of doing nothing. Sigh!

[ American Apparel Socks ]

As the title obviously tells, I'm actually thinking of a lot of neons for fall. I don't normally wear neons for fall, or at all, but for some reason I'm into them right now! In reality, I would wear prep/schoolgirl/vintage things for fall (how typical, right?), but I suppose on other people, I'd really like to see neons! They're so colorful and fun and totally pop out for the summer/winter transition season. That's how I actually see fall and spring. Winter and summer are the huge seasons and fall and spring are more minor "transition" seasons. Don't get me wrong though, I love them (and their fashion) too!

I don't know where my sudden interest in neon came from. I think it started in '07 when my sister bought a neon green slip from Urban Outfitters or maybe in '04 when I first got a peek at FRUITS (at least I think it was '04). Then, I thought neon was weird or so-so. But gradually, as neon became more popular in 07-08 at school and as my sister made a couple more neon purchases, more looking at Harajuku street fashion, and lots of browsing American Apparel tights: I think I came to really like neon... minus the guts or skin tone to wear it.

If one were to wear neon, I don't find an all-neon outfit would be very... pleasing. I would feel like barfing because of all the extremely bright and distracting colors. Kind of like playing Katamari Damacy (I love that game, ha), but minus the fun. Also it would look like a big mess from the 80's or just unicorn barf. The most suiting thing to wear with neon is probably black, or dark brown, leather. Normally, I don't wear leather, but I think they suit neon well. It's more stable and not as crazy as neon, but still is wild. The leather items are so versatile too, so you can wear it with other things you own! Sorry for so much Urban Outfitters stuff, by the way.

Sorry for the lack of posts! I've been pretty uninspired lately, much much much more sorry's. But nonetheless, here's a little spotlight for Pegleg NYC. It's not really anything that excites me like Rodarte, per say, but it is a rather nice brand. I don't really know how I'd describe it except simple, but stands out. Kind of doesn't make sense, but oh well. Here comes the pictures!

Wow, I really like these shorts. I don't know if it's just me, but they're pretty!

I'm a little iffy on the no-buttons, but I'm a huge fan of flannel (shoot me). Hoho, I have a crush on the 90's, sorry.

Yeah, because of my uninspired-ness, I don't really know how to project my feelings onto the blog. I like these shirts though, despite the fact they were released in two collections ago.

Um, wow. I'm in love with Iluchka's style in general. The make-up is absolutely great! They make very very very cute clothes as well! It's soft and girly, it makes me feel so light. The Sound Of Music

Movie Monday strikes back (haha)! So for its great return, I'll premier it with a very lovely musical. The Sound of Music is my current obsession, seriously. Its songs are the only ones that come out of my mouth, and my brother yells at me every time I sing "The Lonely Goatherd". I probably should stop, but I cannot stop! The songs are absolutely catchy, timeless, and fabulous. The von Trapp family are all a well-dressed family (in the movie, I'm not sure about the actual von Trapp family), as well as Fraulein Maria and the Baroness!

I adore every outfit in this movie, except when Maria takes the children out to play in the new clothes she made for them out of her curtains. I would be so embarrassed if I went out in public with my family in matching clothes (made of curtain, nonetheless). But otherwise, all the outfits in this film are fantastic. They are rather simple, but there's no issue there, really. There are a lot of nudes and pastels used, which I love so so so much. The dresses are so lovely, and it's even greater that the film is in a warm season. The boys (Fredrich and Kurt) wear shorts and sweaters or maybe even cardigans. It's adorable! I wish more boys dressed like that, but oh well. It'd be awkward, I suppose. Haha.

Here's a polyvore (sorry) inspired by Liesl! I'm sorry it's another polyvore, but this way, it's easier to find things. But I suppose I should cut back on these. They're addicting though! Haha. Anyways, I love Liesl! She's so beautiful! And I think Rolfe is adorable (before he became a green police). Click play on the song to the right side of my blog! The scene is one of my favorites. The best part about the scene is when Liesl screams at the end, haha. Adorable, but I don't think they included it in the soundtrack. But my real crush is probably Captain von Trapp (Chiristopher Plummer). He is so handsome! Also, the character is rather admirable, so that just adds to the crush. And that voice! Ah. Love it all.

Probably everyone's favorite (recently) 13 year-old blogger is Tavi. She is so adorable! Haha. I didn't believe that she dressed herself when I first read her blog posts and I was jealous of her clothes and style. But overtime, I grew to love her. Her blogs have such a spunk, it cheers my day up when I read them. I try to have outfits inspired by her, but they never prevail. Oh well. Look at her haircut! Currently, I am so in love with it. Unfortunately, my headshape wouldn't look very flattering with the cut. A girl can dream.

She finds the best vintage dresses. It makes me feel sad! She makes thrifting look like a breeze, but unfortunately, when I go - not a dress is found. Mama Mia!

These are some photos of my mama back in 1986. The 80's are probably my least loved decade (it's not that I don't love it, it's just that it has the least love) because I prefer softer pieces, and not as wild as the fashion then. But my mama makes me feel otherwise! In these photos, she's much skinnier than she is now (sorry, mama). Just look at the dress in the second to last picture! I wish she'd kept these clothes, I would love to have them.

I'm sorry I haven't really been following this structure that I planned. I think I'm just going to do whatever and only post when I'm in the mood. But right now, I'll do a quickie on what I want right now, which are some crararazy tights!

1. Well, my favorite color is pink and I love stripes. The combination itself reminds me of candy, and for some reason, salt water taffy. I love salt water taffy!
2. DOGS. My family is crazy about dogs (maybe not my dad). But this print reminds me of The Beach Boys' cover of their album Pet Sounds. It's only relatively similar though.
3. Skulls can be either worn lame or worn all cool and bad-to-the-bone looking! Ha, it's true. Like vegemite. You either love it or hate it. That's the motto, right?
4. Kind of tacky, kind of cute and stuff. I'd wear it with frilly pink dresses, something with tulle and a bounce. Probably lots of lace or something girly.
5. This is just fab.
6. Um plaid. Yes.

But on another note, Movie Monday and Wishlist Wednesday would still continue, I suppose. Just whenever I feel like doing one though! Sorry if you enjoyed them! Au revoir.

Whoa, so like, first outfit post, y'all! Sorry that the pictures aren't that close to the outfit. Would've use a tripod, but my brother and I were about to go to school. Therefore, I just fetched the Nikon D70 really fast and asked my brother to take pictures. He doesn't know much about photography, so he basically just clicked buttons. Turned out fine, nonetheless. I just wish it were a wee bit closer! It makes me look so short.

I'd recently purchased the skirt, so I was very excited for school so I could wear it. It's extremely light, but because it's black, you don't really see through it. I love the pockets. The skirt is probably an AA knock-off, but whatever. I'll deal with it. I dressed pretty dark for spring, I suppose, but the weather was pretty gloomy the whole day. Or at least in my city. I'm glad I wore the tights! I was thinking of just taking them off and leaving them at home - they kept me somewhat warm!

Lords of Dogtown

Hi all! It's Monday, therefore it is Movie Monday! This week's movie is Lords of Dogtown. If you don't already know, it's based on the true story of the Z-Boys. The Z-Boys are a skate group (famous for having Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, and Jay Adams of whom were played by Victor Rasuk, John Robinson, and Emile Hirsch respectively) from the 1970's in Santa Monica's dogtown (beach ghetto). The Z-Boys are considered the fathers of the skate culture that we have today. Pretty crazy. Today, Tony is owner of Alva boards, Stacy found Tony Hawk and is a director, and Jay... I don't know what he does now, but people consider him as the "spark" of skateboarding as well as the most influential skater in the world. Intense! Stacy is a boy, by the way.

Sorry that Stacy isn't shown in the picture above (he's my favorite)! As you can see by their heads, their hair is sand tousled and looks kind of dirty. I like it! I think it looks way cute on the boys. Oh, baby-faced Michael Angarano and amazing actor Heath Ledger are in this film as well, as sort of the runt of the group Sid and sponsor of the Z-Boys, Skip Engblom (respectively). Amazing cast. Nikki Reed is in the film too, if anyone's a fan of her.

So generally, Lords of Dogtown would inspire a skater/surfer look or possibly a more retro 70's look. The boys certainly rock the Vans though, whichever style they wear it. At the end, Jay sort of becomes a punk-rock/grunge type of guy, and that's awesome too because I love grunge/punk. Yeah... Awkward post today. A little tired and uninspired, but I really do recommend the movie. It has great 70's dogtown culture of California.

Featherson... Fetherson

Holy moly, Erin Fetherson's Fall/Winter 09 is so amazing. I actually put her order backwards (hers went from the red looks, to black, to white) but whatever. I love in the white looks that she uses those adorable animal masks! They're so pretty! As well as the clothes, of course. It all looks so dreamy. Kind of ballet-esque to me. The black looks seem the most wearable. I love the bounce of the dresses very, very much. The blazers and bows look great.

Quit Clownin' Around

Soooo, here's Pepper and Pistol's latest collection (Autumn/Winter 09). It's obviously very circus-y. Shoutout to Britney Spears! Haha. There's notably a lot of sequins and ruffles, which is what I totally love love love right now. It's so fun and loud, but the pallette here is kind of soft and kind of edgy. My favorite color is pink, so yeah.

Haha. I totally love the shirt in the first picture, and the dress in the second picture reminds me of the movie Big Fish. Actually, all in all it reminds me of Big Fish. Remember? Where Ewan McGregor sees the love of his life at the Carnival while everyone is frozen? Sigh, the movie is so lovely, I want to watch it again. Too bad my sister has it right now!

But anyways, I think this is a really pretty collection and would like it right now! Hahaha.

Wishlist Wednesday / Lonely Old Cat Lady

Hi, sorry for posting a Wednesday thing on Thursday! I meant to have post a "Wishlist Wednesday" yesterday, but I came home from a sleepover and was too tired to do anything. So, you're like, "wishlist wednesday!? when was this decided? it wasn't even on your list of ideas!" Well, yeah. I just thought of it on Tues/Wedns but just never posted about the thought of it (bad sentence...). Because it's Thursday and I should be working on my editorial for journalism class, I made it kind of small. But here's to the first WW! Cheers!

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one excited for this movie to come out! Ahh. So, what can be so fashionable about this movie? Well, I've made an outfit inspired by it! That's what! Ho ho ho ho. Max's costume is sooo adorable! Paul Dano's doing one of the voices too! Yay, this movie is awesome. AND it's directed by Spike Jonze. He's done Weezer music videos and the Beastie Boys as well. HE'Z GOT STREET CRED.

I don't really know how to describe this outfit thing. It's kind of like boho mixed with urban and vintage (? i don't know, I am sooo so so bad at describing) and made somewhat boyish? Ha, failed. But overall, it has this soft tone to it, while feeling kind of kiddish to me. Maybe it's just me. What do you think? How would you describe it? hahaha.

I've been thinking about doing a weekly schedule for the blog, just to have a steady goal on what to post each day (if possible). Like there would be "Movie Monday" where I do a post upon a look inspired by a movie, or a person's role in a movie in which they have a fashionable character. Basically, I just have a topic for the day and then I'll do a post on it, whether it be a fashion icon, look, or polyvore thingy. I'm a little iffy on the idea, but here's what I've got so far:

Movie Monday (or any other day of the week, whatever. I thought it was catchy with the two m's and all)
Must-have day (I post something I've found and must have it. ha ha.)
Runway day
Street Style day
Song of the week
Item of the week (this doesn't mean I'm showing you my clothes for the week, this will start when I sell stuff eventually)

But yeah. It's still in process. I'm probably doing Movie Monday though, it seems the most possible to keep up with. I'm only saying that because I already have things in mind! *evil laugh* I probably also will have specials for holidays. Today's Easter, but I'm unsure if I'll do anything. Maybe another Polyvore, LOL. Too many today!
